Sri Aurobindo Mira Universal School Celebrated 6th Annual Sports Meet On the vibrant evening of 10th February 2024, Sri Aurobindo Mira Universal School resounded with enthusiasm as it hosted its 6th annual sports meet, a day filled with camaraderie, athleticism, and spirited competition. The event, tailored for senior students of classes 4 to 9 and 11, showcased a plethora of sports activities and cultural performances that captivated the audience and participants alike. The day commenced with a ceremonial inauguration, as the esteemed Chief Guest, Chairman, Dr. C. Chandran, was honored. The dignitaries, amidst a reverent atmosphere, illuminated the ceremonial lamp and paid homage to the portraits of revered figures - Amma, Jansi Rani Chandran, Sri Aurobindo, and Mother Mira. A moment of national pride ensued as respect was paid to the national flag, Olympic flag, and the school flag. The crowd was spellbound by the impressive Marchpast of the Mighty Knights of Samune, setting the tone for the day's events. The torch was ignited, and the oath of sportsmanship was solemnly undertaken, signaling the commencement of the sports meet. With a release of tri-color balloons and the graceful flight of pigeons, the Chairperson officially declared the sports meet open, symbolizing unity and peace. Ms. Gnanasundari, the school principal, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and presented the annual report, highlighting the achievements and milestones of the academic year. The cultural segment commenced with a graceful classical welcome dance by Grade 9 girls, followed by an energetic Aero Flow Fusion drill performed by students of grades 4 and 5.


The director's speech inspired and motivated the participants, emphasizing the values of sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork. The track came alive with thrilling sprint finals for Grade 9 and 11 students, while the audience marveled at the Tidal Flex Dumbbell Fusion performance by boys from grades 6 to 8. The athletic prowess continued with finals for Grade 4 and 5 students in the 100 meters and 200 meters dash, accompanied by the Orbit Odyssey drill by girls from grades 6 to 8. A display of strength and agility followed with the Sweat Squad demonstration by Grade 9 and 11 boys. The prize distribution ceremony recognized the individual achievements of participants, adding to the jubilant atmosphere. The Samune IPL by Grade 9 and 11 girls showcased their cricketing skills, while the Futsal display by boys from grades 6 to 8 exhibited their finesse on the football field. The extracurricular activities (ECA) display featured captivating performances in Kungfu, Taekwondo, Boxing, Yoga, Silambam, and Karate, highlighting the holistic development fostered by the school. As the day progressed, adrenaline soared with the 200 meters hurdles finals for Grade 9 and 11 students, the 400 meters finals for grades 6 to 8, and thrilling relay races including the 4x50 meters relay for grades 4 to 5, the 4x100 meters relay for grades 6 to 8, and the prestigious 4x100 meters relay for Grade 9 and 11. The inclusivity of the event was evident with the engaging parent events, where parents enthusiastically participated in the 100 meters dash, further fostering a sense of community and involvement. The grand finale culminated with the distribution of prizes for team events, parent events, and teacher events, acknowledging the collective effort and dedication of all involved. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice Principal Mr. Parthasarathy, expressing gratitude to all contributors, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and patriotism. Overall, the 6th Annual Sports Meet at Sri Aurobindo Mira Universal School was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and holistic development among students, educators, and the larger school community.
